The end of the year is the ideal time to reflect on the year that ends and consider new purposes for the following year. There is always something to improve in ourselves that leads us to obtain different results and the start of a new year will fill you with energy and motivation to set new goals but do you know what you need to fulfill your purposes?
Doing a recap of the good and the bad of the year allows you to reflect more deeply on those things that you would like to change for next year. If you want to do a ritual of this, you can write them on a piece of paper and burn them on the last night of the year, leaving behind the bad and also thanking for all the good things. This will allow us to see clearly the steps we achieved the previous year, and where we missed, so we can correct our way of thinking and acting in the upcoming year.
Write a list of your purposes and have it in a visible place will help you not to let them pass, you can take it in your wallet or paste it somewhere visible to motivate you, you can even make a motivational collage with images of the results that you want to get.The set of images is something that great minds do, they visualize what they want, and they have it present day by day, either in their office, or in a place that is always visible to them. As a tip, print several copies of your list, as a constant reminder of what you want to achieve.
People say that if you tell everybody about your projects they will not be fulfilled but in reality telling your goals to your close friends can help you, those who love you will motivate you to achieve your goals and this will also pressure you to achieve what you said you would do. Remember that the commitment is with yourself and you should always keep in mind why you are doing it. The British psychologist Richard Wiseman, quoted in his book that sharing it will diminish your fear of failure, and on the way you will receive support from the people around you.
The hardest thing is to start, once everything is going, it gets easier. If your purpose is to exercise, do not think about it anymore and sign up at the gym, if your purpose is to learn a new language, go ahead and sign up for the language school and so on, with everything, we do not have to think about things so much because we end up putting them off, we need to take actions to make them happen. Why wait for a Monday or next month, when you can just start today? Remember that each day you will be closer to achieving it.
Many times we want to fulfill a goal but we also put a thousand excuses not to work on it when in fact, if you organize yourself and strive you can achieve more than you think. Take off your head the "I can not" and begin to see the enormous capacity you have to achieve anything that you propose with patience and much desire.
“Jack of all trades, master of none” it will be more difficult to fulfill a thousand goals than just a few. It is important when considering the purposes of the year to be objective and really think about what you can really commit yourself to, those that are important to you , and those that really have transcendence in your life. It is better to accomplish a single goal and work for 5 things half way. Now, of course if you achieve your goals in less time than expected, then, you can redo the list and continue.
Sometimes it happens that we start the year very motivated with our purposes and as the year goes by we lose motivation, that is why it is important to always stay positive and be disciplined. If you really want to achieve something you need discipline and understand that things are not accomplished from one day to another but that it is a process, you must make habit out of it. The more time passes, the easier it will be for you to follow your objective and you will also start to enjoy it more.
Like everything in life, we have setbacks, do not be discouraged in not having met a goal, recapitulate what happened and undertake a new strategy to achieve it, Remember the great scientist Thomas Alba Edison had to try 1000 times before he invented the light bulb and when a reporter asked him, what is it like to fail 1000 times in his invention, Edison answered, I did not fail 1000 times, the light bulb was an invention that took 1000 steps for its creation.
Patience is a virtue and has to do with one's mental state, being emotionally stable, focused and determined to do something helps a lot. Being patient means understanding that all the effort you put today to achieve something, will be reflected in long-term results, as they say, Rome was not built in one night.
In your resolution’s list be concise in which objectives you think you will achieve first and which ones will take a little more time, it would be good to add a specific date or time that you want to invest for that purpose to finally get to work in everything that we have talked: Have a list, Reflect, put the plan into action, 0 excuses, stay motivated, and be patient. It is important to understand that some purposes will take you longer than others and the most important thing of all is to finally enjoy each step, each victory and allow you to rest on the days you need it.
Each time you complete one of your goals, reward yourself, the prize can be as large as you wish, it can be a delicious dinner, or buying something nice to yourself, remember all good action must be rewarded, that will help you work harder to reach your next goal.
