Have you ever felt the atmosphere of festivity that invades the local people of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas when March is around the corner? March 19th is a very important date for the town, for more than a century the families have celebrated the Patron of the city St. Joseph (San Jose), a heritage from the Spanish conquerors, who named a place they arrived with the name of a saint.
This is one of the most important events of the state of Baja California Sur. Everything starts with the traditional ribbon cutting and a beauty pageant contest where the winner became Queen of the festivities, This year the Mayor crowned to “Jennifer” as the Queen of the Traditional Festivals San José 2017 and presented her to the Local and tourists who gathered in the Antonio Mijares square to begin the festivities with the show of a musical group.
This event brings together hundreds of local people and tourists who enjoy typical dishes, candies, and drinks. During the two-week celebration, everyone can live the local traditions which include: offshore and inshore fishing tournaments with adults and kids categories in the town of “La Playita”, cattle exhibitions, Charreria demonstrations, cultural events, horse races and wide options of public and private events with the participation of national and international artists of diverse arts and genres.
